In line with the Malaysian government’s effort to bring Malaysians on par with other advanced societies in the world, it is very important for the Sabah Government, through the Ministry of Resource Development & Information Technology, to supplement the former's initiatives. Since Sabah is relatively lagging far behind, more immediate efforts are needed to bring the ICT technology to as many people as possible.
As far as human resource development is concerned, the education system is the backbone in realizing our objective of being a K- economy. In fact, Malaysia is working hard to promote the country to become the centre of education excellence in this region. To equip the school teachers with ICT skills is a very important contributor towards this end. Teachers are the role models in schools in order to instill ICT knowledge into the younger generation’s minds.
In addition, the opportunity to learn and acquire the ICT literacy and skills must be made available to those non-government organizations (NGOs) such as Religious Organizations, Community Associations (Persatuan or Pertubuhan Komuniti), Chambers of Commerce, Voluntary Organizations like Lion Club, Rotary Club, Red Crescent, St John Ambulance, Girl Guide, Boy Scout, Orphanage, OKU; Women Associations, for instance, PUSPANITA, SANA, SWEPA, SAWO, BOAW, BAKISA, etc. Indeed, the government had implemented a series of ICT training and development programs over the years, but due to the large number, only a fraction of them was able to access to the ICT both in the urban and rural areas.
Therefore, as an experienced training provider, ABSC is very keen to assist the State government to implement this project in the most effective and efficient way.
